Part II: IR Blaster
Contents
This part of the project was a very good learning experience and sparked a renewed interest in electronics. As I was relearning soldering, circuits, etc there were many iterations taken to get to the final device.
I started with a SparkFun ESP8266 Thing that I put an IR reciever and transmitter on. As a proof of concept it work and achieved basic functionality but I quickly determined that it was not going to be enough to accomplish the goals of a fairly advanced universal remote.
I have come up with a few projects for the ESP8266 that will have to wait until a later time. So, in the interim, to overcome the shortfalls of the ESP8266, I ordered a Raspberry Pi Zero W.
